Every room has one small climate of its own
The room seems warm enough,
until you step closer.
That one corner,
near the curtain,
or beside the bathroom door,
bare feet first sense
a temperature different from the rest.
Then avoid it.
Perhaps a hidden draft.
Perhaps poor insulation.
Or perhaps it’s just the tile,
holding the night’s lingering cold
longer than wood does.
Whatever the reason,
half the room
rests in indoor comfort,
while the other half
still quietly senses
the weather outside.
